I know of a bug that you haven't fixed. What should I do?
By all means, e-mail me a description of the problem. Please include
which build of my patch you're using, whether it's the packed version or the
unpacked version, and whether or not you experienced the problem prior to installing
my patch.

Will this patch work with my current saved games?
Nope. Sorry. If you want this patch, you're going to have to be
willing to start a new game from scratch.

What do you mean by "Packed" and "Unpacked"?
The packed version is where all of the necessary files for my patch
have been "packed" into one file: PATCH000.DAT. This simply replaces the official
v1.02 patch, making installing and uninstalling it simple. However, some people
have encountered weird bugs in the game using it, which I can only assume is caused
by the program I use to pack all of the game files into the DAT file. That's why I
created the unpacked version, where I've skipped the packing process. The result is
a patch that shares none of the bizarre bugs that the packed version has, but is
near impossible to uninstall without reinstalling Fallout 2.

I'm having trouble getting your patch to work. What should I do?
Well, if it's the Packed Version, you should first try switching to
the Unpacked Version. If you're still having problems, e-mail me.

Now that I've installed your patch the game keeps crashing at a specific time.
What's up?
You're not alone. I've been informed about game crashes during all
sorts of actions, from trying to save the game in Klamath to scrolling past the
rope in Maida Buckner's inventory when bartering with her. Why most of them seem to
happen in Klamath is anyone's guess. If you're using the Packed Version, then switch
to the Unpacked Version. If you're still having problems, e-mail me.

Does your patch include the fixes in the official 1.02 patch?
Yes, thanks to Haenlomal's v1.02 scripts, I didn't have to fix what
Interplay already did. They can be found on both
No Mutants Allowed and
TeamX.

Are you including the Abbey? Or Sulik's tribe?
Nope. That would go against the mission of this patch. I may do that
as a separate project, but this patch will never contain the Abbey, Sulik's
tribe, the E.P.A., or any other area that wasn't included in the game.

Does this patch work with the mac version?
I haven't tested it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. It doesn't
make any changes to the executable; just the game files, which should be the same
for both the Mac and Windows versions.

Is this patch free?
Yep. Completely free, with absolutely no obligation to give me
money. When I first started this patch, I had no intention of ever making money from
it, and I intend to keep it that way.

Are you going to make a patch for Fallout 1?
I'm not currently planning on it. Fallout 1 was the original, and
therefore didn't have a rabid fanbase screaming bloody murder at the developers to
get it released, so the programmers had more time to get rid of bugs. Fallout 2,
however, was rushed through in its final stages, allowing a lot more bugs to slip
through the cracks.

Is your patch compatible with this other patch or mod I found?
Damned if I know; I haven't tested any other patches or mods with
mine. If you want to mix various patches and mods, you're doing so at your own
risk.

I'm having trouble installing Fallout 2! HELP!!!
You're looking for help in the wrong place; there is nothing my
patch can do to fix this. Offhand, I'd say try running the installer in
Compatibility Mode and/or copying the CD's contents to your harddrive and running
the installer from there, but that's all you'll get from me. If that doesn't work,
consult Google. Any e-mails about
problems installing Fallout 2 will be ignored.

Need any help coding?
I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid that if other people get
involved with this patch, it might just end up a full-fledged mod. I just want to
make a patch for those that don't want a bunch of new quests, areas, and changes,
but still would like the bugs fixed.
Also, I'm a bit of a flake, and this project is sort of a whim. I
may stop working on it every once and a while, but given the fact that I always
inevitably find myself obsessed with Fallout again, I'm not worried about this
becoming an abandoned site.
However, if you do find an error in my code and have a way to fix
it, by all means e-mail me about it. Several people have already done this, and
their different perspectives and talents have made my task much easier.

I'm making a mod; want to help?
Sorry, but right now one project's enough. My college work keeps me
pretty busy, plus I'm a bit of a loner, and do my best work when I have the ability
to choose when to work on what, if I choose to work on anything at all. Maybe if I
run out of bugs I can fix I'd be willing to move on to another project.
Even though I can't help you with it now, you're welcome to my
source files. They're available in the Downloads
section. So even if I'm not on your mod's team, I can still help you take care of
the bugs addressed in this patch. I've tried to leave comments whenever I've altered
the code, so you wouldn't have much trouble in implementing my code into your own.
All I ask is that you mention this patch in your acknowledgements.
Haenlomal's scripts don't identify what he changed, so it would be
best to start with his scripts, and then make the additions and changes you want.
They can be found on both No Mutants
Allowed and TeamX.
